Good free bulk emailing software?

The small non-profit group that I work for is looking for a low-cost (free?) solution for our bulk-emailing needs. Currently we use Worldmerge and have had varying degrees of success.
Anyone know of other options out there that are free or low-cost?

(Please note that our email list has been built over many years from patrons that have visited our facility and/ or have directly requested to be added to the list. We do not spam.)
Check with your hosting provider about if they run ‘mailman’.
Internet mailing lists have been run by and large for many years by ‘mailman’.
Mailman is a unix/linux based mail list control system, usually accessible and administrated via a web interface. You can set up permissions to make sure only mails that you approve go to your list members.
If your hosting company doesn’t provide mailman, you have a few options, installing mailman your self, or looking for a hosting provider that does provide it.
