I bought a Logitech Quickcam Ultra Vision; it has a built-in mic. I know that both video and audio are functional from a brief recording I emailed to my daughter yesterday.
The webcam will be used by her so I can see (and hopefully, hear) my grandson who is growing up fast on the opposite coast. Will Yahoo Messenger do this for me? Is this called PC-to-PC calling?
Initially, there will only be a webcam on her end, I may buy another one for myself later. If there is not a Yahoo streaming audio/video function, does anyone have suggestions where I can get this? Or is my only option to receive recorded (not live) video/audio through email?
mrrockford and Wyatt Earp, thank you both. You’ve answered my question for the time being. I just need to get my daughter online and signed up with yahoo so we can try it out.
leito339, I’m looking into your suggestion, but my first impression is that everyone on livevideo.com would be able to ‘eavesdrop’ on us. I haven’t found anything in the FAQs yet that shows I can have a private connection.
tabodi, I think you didn’t understand my question. My webcam does have a mic and it is working.
BTW, I am still open to suggestions for other sites or services that allow private, one-way or two-way video/audio streaming. I do have webspace through 1and1internet, but don’t know if I can use that for webcam streaming.
